Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies were falling on Monday after peace talks between the U.S. and Iran faltered, causing investors to ditch risk assets.
Bitcoin was down 0.2% to $70,996 over the past 24 hours. Ethereum dropped 0.8%, Solana slipped 0.2%, and XRP slid 0.4%. The moves lower came as Wall Street fretted about the looming blockade on ships entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Digital assets have traded like high-volatility risk assets in recent months, so they have been struggling since the war in the Middle East started. Unless the U.S. and Iran are able to broker a peace deal, the brutal crypto winter should drag on.
